Ginkgo Biloba, often referred to as the “living fossil”, oldest living species of its family, known for its hardiness. In traditional Chinese medicine, the leaves on the Ginkgo tree were used to treat brain and circulatory problems as well as respiratory conditions. Gingko has been shown to affect the recognition of memory, concentration, mood, and energy levels. Although the leaves are the most potent, the Gingko nuts were also used for fever, cough, toothaches and even gonorrhea. Surprisingly, the first green growth to emerge in the city of Hiroshima after the atomic blast was Ginkgo.
